Jyl Ion is a dakini by virtue of incarnation, as well as an acclaimed poet and visual artist. Her path began early with spiritual experiences that were later affirmed by esteemed spiritual masters, Sri Lankan Acharya Godwin Samararatne, the former incarnation of Tibetan Buddhist Phowa master, His Eminence Chöeje Ayang Rinpoche, and other high Lamas in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
Driven by a deep sense of purpose rooted in her spiritual practice, Jyl devoted her early career to advocacy, serving as a legal advocate for crime victims. Her work focused on cases that involved abused children within the court system where she was known for her integrity, compassion, and fierce commitment to justice.
Jyl’s work as a forensic medium formally began in 2002. Trained through the Supreme Court of Ohio Judicial College and other institutions of professional learning, she offered insights into the events surrounding disappearances, suspicious deaths, and murders. Jyl later expanded her practice to individuals who sought clarity and understanding in their personal lives through evidential and spiritual mediumship.
Beyond her work as a medium, Jyl is a poet and visual artist, whose creative work intertwines personal narratives with a deep inquiry into the nature of reality. Her acclaimed debut poetry collection, Soft Out Spoken, was released in 2019 by Sin Miedo Press, followed by her spoken word album, FIRE, in 2020. Prime, her second collection, was published in 2022. Her writing has appeared in Rising Voices: Poems Toward A Social Justice Revolution, We Are The Changemakers, Protectors 2: Heroes, Santa Clara Review, and Asylum Magazine for Democratic Psychiatry. Her poetry has been reviewed in Glass: A Journal of Poetry and Harbor Review. As a visual artist, her work has been featured in Existential Psychology and the Way of the Tao, Silent Screams, and MONUMENTAL 2021, an international juried exhibition, among others.
Inspired by her spiritual realization and the Light & Space Movement, Jyl’s work invites viewers to reflect on justice, the evolution of consciousness, and their own place within the fabric of existence.
